I was the Nuc Weapons Spec on the Mace B from 67 to closing in 69, serving in the 71st TMS. My launch officer was Capt Wayne Clements and was stationed at Idenheim. I enjoyed the tour but wish I had taken more pictures of the area and the sites. Bitburg was a great city and it was enjoyable just walking the streets. And, the beer was great. I enjoyed my tour over there and have fond memories of Bitburg. If anyone has a missile badge or a badge of the 71st TMS, I would love to have one as I have misplaced mine.

I spent 2 exciting years at Bitburg with the 36th AMS. Although, I must say I did not enjoy the winters there as I was on the Mid-Night express as they say, I relished the excitement of working on the APQ systems of the F4-Ds and Es. I miss the country side, and the ease of ones ability to ride a bike anywhere there. I served from 1972-1974 and went on to Seymore Johnson AFB in North Carolina. I have been a Field Engineer for NCR now 30 years. I am having a flag sewn with the 36th AMS logo, and will display it proudly here in Hickory North Carolina. Ya gotta love that thunderous F4 don't ya!!! A side note -- My son is a Marine now--pray for him--
